Installing a arvin heater

Post by Charles J » Wed Oct 07, 2020 1:30 am

I would like to see pictures of the insulation on one it looks like you have to cut the firewall to use it I'm not wanting to do that the heater that was in my 22 the register came through the floor

Found some old posts and pictures. Pictures show going under metal firewalls

Not sure if this is the correct shield for the manifold but it suggests a design to go under the firewall

The top tin would be easy to fabricate - it's the "linkage" tin that is complicated - I have a similar heater in our Centerdoor - my wife loves it - it's on her side so she has control of the "kick: register located in the middle floorboard - no cutting of the firewall.

I may have added confusion and false impressions of the Arvin Manifold. The third photo is my cover made for a manifold I had and painted my version of the Arvin logo on it. While satisfying my needs for a manifold that looked somewhat correct I see I have mislead future impressions of the item.
I hope all will take note and not assume it has any validity.
Perhaps someone can identify the true manufacture of the other "waffle" manifold shown.
Thanks
Rich
When did I do that?

While the identity is important - the need for a shroud, cover, design is the primary interest. Did you make yours?

Found another picture of the end cap - looks like the cover over the manifold is a simple rectangular cover, the end cap converting a the rectangle to a round pipe from there a flex hose could be added to a register(s) inside the T as desired

Yes, I made two covers, for two different cars. I had a fair one for a pattern. The bends are simple to make but the rear portion I made over a maple form.

I also made the heat pipe as the originals don't fit the arrangement very well. There was recessed rectangle where I assume the logo went. I flared the front on one and not the other. The one in your first photo would be easier to fabricate I think.
When did I do that?
