Can you help me identify this steering wheel lock?
Can you help me identify this steering wheel lock? It says F 96640 on it. It also might also say, in faded leters, RELIABLE.

I am also looking for a key blank that would fit it so I might be able to use it.

Looks a lot like a Simplex brand lock.

There was many similar makes out at the time, it looks like an early Leland brand maybe. There should be a key number on the key hole, and maybe a lock type stamped into the brass.

F 966482 is the number on the plate, I missed a number three first time.

I don't know how you guys find these links on the internet and forum. I can't even find a matching pair of socks in the morning!

Alright, it is definitely not a Leland lock. There are no numbers on the face of the key barrel. Any other suggestions of how to identify it?

Re: Can you help me identify this steering wheel lock?
I guess it's like Perry's socks. I don't see a Reliable or any other like that in my searches. I'll bet someone has the answer.
Sorry
Keep looking.

Re: Can you help me identify this steering wheel lock?
Be careful with these wheel “locks”.
Most of them do not “lock” the wheel. They UNLOCK the wheel. That means the wheel is not connected to the steering shaft.
Had a friend have one unlock at 40 MPH. He ended in a ditch. Dan

it ratchets it in one direction and prevents it from spinning in the other.
