Can anyone help me identify this eingine?

Post by Jonah D'Avella » Thu Dec 17, 2020 1:01 pm

I have an early engine that does not have mounts for either a starter or a generator. Its number is 116844 but I cant find a date to go along with it. Does anyone know of a way i can find the date? I have been searching through the Ford Model T Encyclopedia with no luck.

Do you have a Langs catalog? They have it listed.

I have been searching through the Ford Model T Encyclopedia with no luck.
Go to Home Page, left top header of this page, open Research in the header there, then Click on Encyclopedia, when that opens, Click on "Go to Old Version". Then scroll all the way down and you will find hot link to "Serial Numbers"

Neat that you have an early T engine.

If it is a”real” 12 block look just above the engine number boss and you may find the date there. Dan

Are you sure of the numbers? Can you try to include photos of the serial number and the casting date?

You're missing one digit on your serial number. March 1916 is should put it in the 1.1 million range.

The biggest difference you will notice between a ‘12 block and a ‘16 block is about $2,800.00. They both run the same!
