1915 Hight F Hub Cap

Post by Vrayfoster » Sat Feb 27, 2021 10:27 pm

The one on the left is an original high F hub cap found on 15 cars. My home made one is on the right. It isn't a perfect copy.

I hate to disagree with you, but the hubcap you have pictured is a 1913 high F hubcap. Should you wish a photo of a correct 14-16 high F hubcap I'll be happy to send you one.

Victor-
Is that the blank "no script" hubcap that Lang's has available?
Very clever. How did you do the logo?

The attached image is a hubcap with the high F script used in 1915-1916 (same hubcap, nickel plated was used in 1917)

I suspect in about 1918 when hubcaps were produced in all corners of the country is when the letter (or sometime star or symbol) was added below the "made in USA"

The current reproduction hubcap which are listed as 1913-1927 look like they come out of the same machine, but they simply change the finish from brass to nickel (or chrome.)

Thanks for posting a correct 14-17 hub cap. Of course the '17 is nickel.
