There is no local sales organization for my Brush Runabout! When it breaks down, I send a wire to the company in Detroit, telling them what parts I need, and they send them via the bus company, right to the milepost I am broke down at. The bus driver hands them to me out the window, and I sign for them right then and there! I can order parts cheap, because they use telegraphic code words to order parts with. That saves up to $1 on each message I send!
here is no fancy lady's waiting room! The Brush Runabout ladies waiting room is right there under the tree closest to where we break down at!
My special motor shop is in the toolbox beneath the driver's seat!
If I need a hoity-toity special service department, I just call the local blacksmith! Once he's done taking care of the local horses, he just rides right out
to see what I need!
Same thing with my Overland! They just send the parts through the local post office, general delivery, and they drop them right off where I've been camping out for the last few days!
Maybe I'll think about buying a Ford.
I might just consider it, perhaps a little!
But I know that my Brush Runabout "has the motor that MOTES!" and my Overland has a "Million Dollar Motor" in it, as well, so it'll be hard to know which choice to make.

Reminds me of the old slam they used to say about Franklins - Great cars, but you need to check the frames for termite damage...

That is one clean, well lighted, and organizd dealership... Mr. Ford would have been proud.

BTW - white coveralls added to that until they got dirty. And dirty they would get (if you look closely at the towmen in the picture, the ones stationed behind their "Trusty steeds" were filthy from the belt line down.) Our "Emergency Response Personnel" (read Tow Truck Drivers) on the bay bridge were, for decades, issued white coveralls - obstensively because "the lower deck was dark, the trucks orange, so our people would stand out", but it was more of a tradition with us...

I love the the new car show room with the oil absorbent cardboard under the engine of each new car! Makes you wonder if the new buyer asked the sales team to check for leaks before your new Ford left the building! Nowadays that’s a big no no for a new car sales room.

Those WmOMckay buildings have recently been torn down to make way for what else a hi rise. However before they could get permits to tear down and buid , the historic preservation folks got a commitment from the Late Paul Allen of Vulcan to save the marble front of the art deco Lincoln show room and put it into the façade of the new hi rise so the old Lincoln show room face will live on in its original design and patina.

The old Ford plant is preserved. Now storage.

I think the 24-25 Coupes have the rear windows masked off for the paint job. I wonder what the paint jobs looked like the 2nd time around. Both cars look like the paint is dulled out or lightly sanded smooth so the paint would adhere better. Just a guess though. Also they do show the rear tail light was almost in the center of the tire carrier. The taillight position is a question that gets asked time and again about the original location.

Looking at my truck pictures I noticed this tow truck with McKay Ford written on the side and the building is the background looks like the very first picture on this page of Wm O McKay Ford dealership.

Steve _ When I first saw that photo of the Wm O.McKay Ford dealership yesterday, I remembered you saying that your "Gramps" '24 TT truck was purchased new there. In expanding the size of the photo, it's very hard to tell, but by what i believe is the reflection of headlights, L/front hubcap and possibly a front bumper, it would appear that the new Ford in the showroom is a '30/'31 Model A, or a very early '30's car. All that to say that your grandfather probably purchased the TT truck approx. six or eight years before that photo of the dealership was taken. Unless you have a collection of documentation and/or photos that go with "Gramps" old TT truck, a copy of the Wm O McKay dealership photo would be nice to add to your "collection of whatever else you might have that goes with the old truck!

In the meantime, even tho' you've moved "out in the "boonies", we miss you and Dianne and it's nice to see your occasional posts here on the forum,.....harold

Tom Rootlieb - Meant to comment that you certainly have some beautiful photos and your sharing them here on the forum is greatly appreciated! Can't help but take particular note of the Ohio Ford Assembly Plant too! There's a very similar looking old Ford Assembly Plant here in Seattle near the south end of Lake Union that I believe is presently being used for public storage. It's interesting that many of them are still standing and in use all over the country! Must have been very well built buildings, and it's interesting that once you are familiar with the certain "look" that they all seem to have, you can recognize them easily. (Also, nice photo of the tow truck too Dennis Seth!) .....harold
