Ford Service Bulletin Reprints

Post by ModelTWoods » Sun Jul 04, 2021 4:52 pm

In a previous Forum post, I mentioned that I had two binders with T Service Bulletin reprints (the ones the MTFCI reprinted at one time). The two sets of bulletins were incomplete; they only went from 1919 (the first year Ford printed them) to 1922. I have one set that is complete that I am copying to complete the two sets. At the time of my original post, a Forum member from Tennessee and Tim Morsher from Ohio, expressed a desire to obtain a set, if I got around to finishing the copying and the value was agreeable.

Who is the second MYSTERY person from Tennessee that wanted the second set? I have tried to research the Forum to find his name and his response, but have come up empty handed. Please don't everyone claim to be from Tennessee. I'd like to let the real person who expressed a desire to buy a set; have that chance.

Since I have a complete original set, it makes me wonder why the MTFCI didn't go a step further when they issued these? First, the early issues had a blue colored border until a later date, and the first issue only had an orange border. Also, the paper had a gloss finish. It's too bad they didn't do this. Certainly, it wouldn't have cost much more. The other factor is they didn't punch the holes in the same place. Why?

Larry, I think I bought all three sets on EBAY at one time or another, but its been so long that I am not sure and I don't keep receipts on everything that I buy. It is odd that the two incomplete sets end with the very same issue, June 1922. Since I didn't buy the two incomplete sets from the same person at the same time (I would have remembered that), why June; why not January or December? All printing on these copies and the complete set of copies that I am using as a master copy to reproduce from, are in black print on heavy glossy paper to reproduce the missing copies, I am printing them on H P Premium 32 lb white glossy paper, so as to match the originals as close as possible. As to the blue binders, I imagine that the company who the MTFCI contracted to reproduce these, just took the easy way out and punched the holes according to the spacing of a modern three hole punch press, and the MTFCI either didn't catch the difference, or didn't figure it was worth the expense to punch the holes with the original spacing.

I'm still looking for the MYSTERY MAN from Tennessee who said he wanted a set. I have already heard from Tim Morsher, and he's still in line for the other set.

Yes, Steve, if you're not particular about the paper that they are copied on and the nice hard cover binder that came with the MTFCI reprints. To get as close to the original paper as I could, I am using H P Premium 32 lb weight glossy paper (standard copier paper is rated at 24 lb.) and isn't glossy.

These were scaned at perhaps 100 DPI, To have the photos nice and clear, they should be scaned at at least 400. I scan such items at 800.

I have a nice clean complete set for the Model T and then for the Model A with a few for the 32. These have the original covers. I hve not viewed the reproductions, but I assume the are satisfactory.
