Tool Identification

Post by QGolden » Sat Dec 25, 2021 11:30 am

Hello all
Can anyone identify this tool?

The seller that I spoke to thought it was for removing valves out of a Model A, which it certainly is not meaty enough to compress valves by any means.

On the handle it does say “Model A” but that could mean a lot of things. Thoughts?

This is the standard tool, I believe, for removing Model A valves. At least that is what I have used it for in the past. Bottom end is scooped out to slide around the stem.

It is a valve spring compressor for Model A and Model B 4 cylinder engines. The tool in the second post is used to remove the valve guides in those engines. Hope that helps.

That tool is a new one on me as well, thanks!

Thanks! To me it didn’t look beefy enough to remove valves, the right shape, just light duty. But I never removed A valves in my A. I did in more than one 292-6, and those spring compressors are much larger.

Yes, Once the valve guides are tapped out with the tool the valves come right out. Guess I should have been more specific….😊
