Maintenance item ?

Post by Rich Bingham » Sat Mar 30, 2019 4:36 pm

When I got my '13 runabout a couple of years ago, I replaced the "anti-squeak" leathers in the hood. They were hard and brittle as over-cooked bacon. All the heat and fumes under the hood is tough on leather. Probably a good idea to occasionally clean them with warm soapy water then apply as much saddle oil or genuine neats foot oil as they will absorb.

Good idea Rich. I never thought about that - although I routinely soak my leather top socket tie downs and top-to-windshield leather with the hook on my ‘14 runabout. Will look at the leather strips under the hood tomorrow...thanks
