A load for a work horse T

Post by Rich P. Bingham » Mon Feb 28, 2022 8:28 pm

Billed fenders, radiator is an adaptation. Probably a '15 or '16 touring working hard for its owner and his livestock. I count at least eleven big bales, could be as much as 1375#, a half-ton at the least. The Hasslers probably are a help !

Is that a shadow?

Or has the tube ballooned out his left front tire :)

That was when those long bales were truly heavy and I bet were bound with baling wire, not twine.

I saw that too right away, looking closer, as much as could be, I don't think it's the tire balooning.

It looks to me like he was sacrificing his vehicle to save a little gas. (Or maybe time?) More trips = more fuel and time, but a lot less overload on the vehicle. Maybe it was about to rain.....

I wonder if he could get it in high. If he could it would have to be on level ground. Great photo of a working T!

The black headlight rims say 1916.

It's a fascinating photo. I particularly like the crank latch and the after market headlight lenses. I don't recognize the radiator shell but I believe it just fits over the standard brass radiator.

P. S. I would say it is a 1921 license plate.
