Driveshaft bushing
I cannot get grease through the driveshaft bushing, is it a hole straight through the bushing or is it a channel that delivers it to multiple locations?

Re: Driveshaft bushing
Depends if it was installed correctly & either an original or a correctly made repro but yes, there is a grease galley.

Re: Driveshaft bushing
I believe the process : The bushing is to be inserted with the oil groves aligned with the oil hole in the torque tube then the hole is drilled an then the busing is reamed & faced.

Re: Driveshaft bushing
It appears that once again this guy installed something incorrectly, the bushing is 180degrees off.

It could have spun, too. The repro’s are sometimes a loose fit and need to be glued in.

Re: Driveshaft bushing
If you decide to remove it be careful. More than one guy has sheared off rivets trying to drive it from the far end of the tube. You want to use a puller designed for the purpose.

Re: Driveshaft bushing
I just removed & replaced the same bushing that was installed incorrectly - they drilled the hole but it was opposite the grease slot.

Re: Driveshaft bushing
Considering how much oil most T’s leak by the ball cap I wouldn’t think it is a big deal. I haven’t greased that bushing in 45 years.

Re: Driveshaft bushing
I'm with you. But your suppose to put grease in the Ball Cap to lube the u-joint and oil to lube the drive shaft bushing. I think that theory was that the oil would dilute the grease seeping into the busing providing the intended consistency.Les Schubert wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 6:46 pmConsidering how much oil most T’s leak by the ball cap I wouldn’t think it is a big deal.
