Wheeler-Schebler carburetor photos

Post by ModelT46 » Tue Apr 12, 2022 4:09 pm

Hare two photos of the Wheeler-Schebler carburetor marked Ford. It is marked "Patent pending" - so it must be an early one,. There are later carbubetors by Schebler for a variety of auto snakes. This one was designed for the Model T Ford. Any information you might have about this early and unusual carburetor, post it here.

Someone has changed the throttle butterfly lever. I have used them along with the later style. Good carbs. That one is in my OP about equal to Stromberg LF. The later ones, maybe the OF, they too had enricher valve setup.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

I certainly can't provide any info for your Ford Wheeler Darel. Interesting!
IF my info is correct, Wheeler-Scheblers were actively marketed from 1909 - 1928 and I suspect after the Marvel-Schebler merger.
Now Borg-Warner.
The Wheeler-Schebler carbs for the tractor market are very good carbs.
A 1928 tractor here has a very cherished Wheeler-Schebler A type carb. No nonsense.
My brand used them from the late teens thru 1928+.

Looked at the photos again, that one looks to be the later style with the enriching valve. The earlier ones only had the 2 adjustments, no enricher setup.

I found a picture today of the Schebler manifold I had. It was NOs but also for an updraft carb. Very well made, from my memory,

I gotta post this about Tim's old photo:
That 90 degree air cleaner assembly looks like the ones I drooled over as a teenager in the J.C. Whitney catalogs!
$29.95. Meant for a model A Ford but have the the same carb bowl on the 28 International here.
