Model T collectors who served during Korean War

Post by ModelT46 » Tue Jul 26, 2022 6:59 pm

Wed, July 27 is Korean War Veteran's Day. I served from 1950 to 1953 active duty US Army. Are there any other Ford collectors who served in the military during those years? We all would be at least 90 and most older than that. I put my 1910 in storage during those years. When I returned to cilivian life, I bought a nice 1923 (first series) coupe so I would have one with a starter.

Dad was there with you.., 1951-1952. Stories of him and his buddies taking Marine goose down sleeping bags! Worst cold he said he ever witnessed.

I was in 10th grade at that time. We discussed it in Social Studies class. I also remember seeing a large crowd on TV when Mac Carther came home.

Worst cold he said he ever witnessed.

Winter 1965-66. Probably the most miserable day of my life. Some military genius decided it was the perfect day for a march to the firing range. After more than half a century my geography is a little hazy, but I think it was near Byeokje-Dong. Guys were standing around burning barrels with their gloved hands over the fires trying to thaw their fingers to fire their M-14's. The craziest thing was local people running out onto the firing range to gather spent ammo for scrap before the firing stopped. Of course by 1965 the big show was over. The truce was signed when I was twelve.
The inevitable often happens.
