They screw into the back of the front seat so I'm assuming the upholstery would need to be out ?

If you use something like RIVNUTS, the long screw won’t poke you in the back while driving. It sure is easier than removing the upholstery or having the screws come loose because the relatives were aggressive with the blanket. Nice brackets Steve.
