1915 tool roll

Anyone have the out-flat dimensions of the 1915 tool roll?

I have them for the pre-15....have the later black car style...but am curious if the 15 is unique, or, an earlier with the longer flap cut back ....

Take a look at tools in the encyclopedia. I'm not taking the time to read everything there, but I do see that the 1915 tool roll was canvas.

I thought the tool roll was canvas until '13. same design but leatheret '14 - '22 ???

Layout of the roll, but no dimensions, might help. Lang’s sells an authentic sized reproduction.

If you search the forum for the thread on original tool kits started by Adam Corts on December 12, 2013, you will find much of the information you are looking for (if you read the entire thread). The 1915 tool roll was made of top material, and the flap no longer had the taper (according to Adam's post of Dec 13, 2013, 10:35 AM). In this same thread, on December 15, 2013, 4:59 PM, Larry Smith, posted a photo, with a tape measure, to give dimensions, of an original 1915 type tool roll. With the number of tool rolls made each day, it would be logical to assume that there would be a fair amount of variation from one tool roll to the next. Based on the information in this previous thread, I drew a pattern that I used when I made my tool roll. Since I don't have the actual factory drawing, my pattern is an approximation, which served my purposes. I can share my drawing, but you need to accept it for what it is, I make no claim that it corresponds exactly to the factory drawing (and I expect most of the production tool rolls also did not conform exactly to the factory drawing, if only because of the volumes produced each day). If anyone has a copy of the factory drawing, I would appreciate getting a copy of it.

Made for some interesting reading as the story on tools has always been full of holes and I caught a few things that I apparently missed the first time around over the years.

Dan's drawing is a good guide. If the order of tools is as they were fitted, That will guide how wide the slots need to be. The spark plug wrench slot needs to be wide enough to take the socket end of the wrench, and the hubcap wrench and pliers slots need to be wider than the rest.

I have mine made in the same canvas used in making our colonial tops.
