Non Model T Stromberg OF carb

Post by Bruce Compton » Fri Nov 04, 2022 9:03 pm

Oddball Stromberg OF carb that has the mounting holes at 3 3/8" centers (the regular T Stromberg OF is 3 1/8" C-C). I bought this as a parts core as it was missing several pieces but I was able to find the correct parts so I did it up. Everything inside appears identical to every OF I've seen (jets, vents, needle valve/seat, throttle bore, float and related mechanism, plugs etc.) and only the mounting hole spacing and the longer throttle shaft length are different. I has had all the passages and jets cleaned, the throttle shaft/bore repaired and a new needle valve installed. I have no way of testing it on my car, but see no reason to believe it would not function the same as any other OF if you had an adapter or enlarged or repositioned the holes in the intake or the carb. Might work great on an overhead set-up too. Asking $525.00 including shipping.

That particular OF was for the Willys Overland Light 4. It would have had a shorter throttle lever (this one has the throttle lever updated for a "T").

Thanks Scott; Other than the hole spacing, are there any other differences or a reason it would not work on a T with an adapter? Bruce

You're welcome, and I should have stated above that it would work just fine on a "T" with the appropriate adapter. It is the same casting as for a "T" and I cannot recall any differences other than the mounting flange difference (and the Willys having a shorter throttle lever due to an entirely different linkage...yours has the "T" throttle arm so that little difference is accounted for)

To be honest Scott, I didn't notice the hole spacing issue till I tried to bolt it onto my '14 T intake. Oh well, live and learn. Hopefully someone will have a need for it.

That's just the opposite to the one I just sold. It was for a T but had been modified for fitting to a manifold with wider mounting holes.

Any interest or offers on this Stromberg OF before I have the existing holes plugged and a new set of holes bored and threaded at the proper T mounting spacing?? Bruce
