Post by Rich Eagle » Mon Jun 19, 2023 1:23 pm

I was pleased to see 7 model Ts at our Car Show last weekend. I often have the only one.

This marvelous Model T dump truck also showed up for sale. It did not sell. The owner expected it to run but only one coil would buzz.

Rumor was it helped build Hoover Dam.

Thanks Tad.
Our friend Joe brought his 1908 REO...
23SW2.jpg
and his 1903 Rambler and 1928 Buick.
23SW3.jpg
Norm brought his 1926 Buick. We used to travel 1000+ miles a year around Montana in it and my Speedster each Summer.

I was pleased to trade my Harley transmission for two Hayes wire wheels. Now I need to find two rears.

The weather was threatening but didn't sprinkle too much. We had a good turn out and visited with many friends. A Forum visitor from Montana was there and I had a good chat with him. He owns 1911 and 1914 Tourings which I had seen 50 years ago in Virginia City, MT. It was good to get out of the shop and enjoy the weekend.

Beautiful cars! Love it when they are driven and enjoyed! We just don't see any antiques like that here in the East, they were around at shows back in the 60's and 70's, but where did they go?

There were over 250 cars (maybe 300) at the show despite the clouds. The ones I showed were the only early cars except for several Model As. This was exceptional. Perhaps the weather kept folks from doing other things and came out to the show. There were lots of later cars, trucks and hot rods. We open it to everyone, and it is a good mixer for car folk. They can drive in and leave whenever they please and look around at the show and swap meet. Lots of good food and a raffle. The Show is scheduled for Sunday but just as many show up on Saturday. I think the flexibility makes it a success.

I drag down some parts and set up a booth each year but it's mainly to have a place to sit and visit with guys we only see once a year. I seldom sell anything but this year the two HD trans's were a hit and made it worthwhile. A few T parts show up and are usually cheap but I really don't need anything unless it's early or unusual. We lose some of our best vendors each year.
Still, we make enough from the meet to run our car club and we sponsor a scholarship for the local technical college. We old timers move a bit slower each year but including later and modified cars we have some bright young helpers.

My Daughter had this picture of us leaving in our 1925 Tudor. I had not included it in the group of Ts.

Loading up the parts and getting the cars back takes up the late afternoon. Joy does the same with her paraphernalia as one of the meet organizers. Monday is a rest day. It's nice we have good helpers.

Two more finds from the meet. First, a pair plus 2 of H lenes in the box. I'm sure I have seen these but having them is great.

Second, A brass fan bub that I think I can silver solder some flat brass to build it back to the standard crown. I'll try to do it without removing the blades as they look pretty good. Last year I found these other two hubs and hope to put the brass flange on them. One it not worn much.

It will be a good test of my soldering.

Any chance the people who had the Blue "modern" vehicles own the Port=o=potty business? Could not help but to notice the color match!
Everything works in theory.
Reality is how you determine if something works or not.

Probably variations of the same Porto-Blue base color, Richard.

Getting Port=o=potties to the meet is one of several major efforts involved with making this happen. Time and evolution have made the simplest tasks more and more convoluted. I'm sure that artificial intelligence will simplify things for all of us.
It's nice to have the more pressing events done and back to leisure life in the garage.
