What had started out to just be an engine refresh is ending up to be a complete rebuild….. but what the heck I’m having a blast…. And the engine is out of the car. I’m planning to get it up on the bench today and get the transmission separated from the block…
Now that I’ve gone this far, I’m going to have the crankshaft turned …..the engine line bored….mains re-babbeted.
The first step is to have the block hot dipped…
The machinist there said he would remove the current Babbitts as they will be eaten up by the chemical anyway….Golly this is fun…. Next, on to the transmission triple gears….. I’m sure I’m gonna have a lot of questions….lol

If you are going total rebuild, splurge on a Scat crank. You won't regret that. Also a great time to charge all the magnets.
