FS-1918 Ames bodied touring car-SOLD-SOLD
This is it, “An Assembled Cloverleaf” touring car as featured in Vintage Ford 25-4-10. Amazing provenance for a 105 year old car that runs and tours great. Kevlar bands, starter, Ruckstell rear end with Stoltz safety hubs/bearings, Universal wire wheels. I have all the original parts (wood wheels, early hogshead) from conversions over the years to put it back to original. You can be the 7th documented owner of this amazing car with the best car story ever. If you can’t find the VF article or want more pictures, questions, please email. $22,500 OBO, car is in Central TX, 40 miles from San Antonio.

Re: 1918 Ames bodied touring car
It’s been a great touring car. Several T parties, a few national tours, a speedster reunion, the Canyonlands and the Centennial. It may have overheated a bit in Utah and San Angelo, but we never rode the trouble truck! Actually still gets just as many or more compression starts as crank starts.

Re: 1918 Ames bodied touring car
Thanks! You/I might be in the minority on the color, most T’ers have not been too enthused about it. I just hope someone who’ll drive/tour it has some interest in it!

Re: 1918 Ames bodied touring car-OBO
Beautiful example of an Ames Body.., Not many like that. The color will grow on you. Remember, a lot of people repainted T's because they wanted to be different than all BLACK. Ames would paint to any color of your liking. Very nice car at a bargain price.

Re: 1918 Ames bodied touring car-OBO
A couple folks have asked what that canister is on the firewall, it’s a Stewart Warner vacuum powered fuel pump. Works great and is a great place to “prime” the car after a storage period. And I’ve got spares for it that go with the car.

Re: FS-1918 Ames bodied touring car-OBO
Not even an offer. I guess not that many folks have the collection of Vintage Ford magazines to be able to look at the historical pieces that accompany this car. If so, email me and I’ll send picts some of the amazing documents or the article/story that describe the “building” of this car. Either that or folks just think a Model T can’t exceed a certain price, but I figured offers would come as I just chose a starting price to go down from.

Rob, I truly wish I had a spot for this. I’ll be jealous of whoever picks it up.

Bob,
I just don't get it! The last Ames body I saw for sale was 20 years ago and it was gone in a heartbeat. Beautiful design.
All the Best,
Hank

One interested party so far, not even an offer yet, a little head scratching. If you don’t have the VF issue with its story, please contact me for a copy.

That has to be the car. Nothing else like it. You beat me to noticing it on FB and then posting it here.

Re: FS-1918 Ames bodied touring car-OBO-price reduced
Interested in car. Have been chasing this car for 8 years now. The dealership that assembled the car in 1918 was a satellite store for our dealership Zink Motor Co. We used to own car. Have regretted knowing previous dealership management sold the car since the day I learned of its existence.
