OHV Head #78 Unknown ID

Post by JSteele » Tue Nov 14, 2023 10:36 pm

I picked up another project. I think it's project #6093 on my list. The head is the first mystery I'm trying to solve so I thought I would post some pictures and see if anyone knows. It has been suggested that it was for a marine engine which could be possible but I believe this head was sold with accessories or as a package for street use.

That’s an interesting gasket variation as it has the push rod pass thru hole at the full valve diameter. This extra clearance is needed on a select few O/H conversions that utilize the ports in the block. One example is the Roof 16 valve model “A” cylinder head

Mr. Fitzgerald made his first gaskets for the Breech Block spark plug.

My 16 valve had a Fitzgerald head gasket when I took it apart. I don't remember the part number, and I'm sure I threw it away.

Thank you for the Fitzgerald info Ed. :)
There's a pair of Fitz #728's here which are far, far from this realm. ;)
