Striping on a '13 runabout
This photo shows body striping very clearly. No striping on the hood, apparently. Hood is discolored, so that's not conclusive.
Interesting mount for the horn bulb.

Many cars were striped after they were bought. I don't think there were any sort of standards. Each artist probably had their own ideas.

Re: Striping on a '13 runabout
While I know some of the 1913 Fords had pin striping on the bodies, not all of them were striped. Here is a photo of my 1913 runabout with the same striping as the early photo and no striping on the hood. The body is a Wilson body. My car is a bit cleaner too. Russ Furstnow

Re: Striping on a '13 runabout
Thanks for sharing the picture, Rich, and the modern photo, Russ.
I believe the photo is reversed and is actually a Canadian production RHD. Notice the button on the woman's coat and the strap for the crank handle.
I'm just thinking out loud here...
We know that some, not all, 1913 had pinstripes.
People believe that some 1913's were blue and (later?) some were black . (No documentation has been found about black 1913 cars.)
I wonder if the blue 1913's were pinstriped and the black not pinstriped?
????

Re: Striping on a '13 runabout
I have no proof, but I believe only the models made in 1912 were pinstriped, with perhaps a carryover into early January.

Re: Striping on a '13 runabout
I think that only the body and the wheels of the early 1913s were striped.

Re: Striping on a '13 runabout
Body striping was probably gone by March 1913, based on photos.

I am sure you are right! The front tires appear to be 30 X3 1/2, and that would explain the horn bulb mounting location (Canadian cars the door was in the way for the horn tube). Also, the pan oil petcocks do not show in the photo, and given the nearly perfect angle for them to show up if the near side had been the right side?
Being a Canadian production car, does confuse some details as Canadian production timelines on details varied from USA production cars. However, I notice that the turtle deck had the bead around the lower edge. USA production early 1913s had a plain edge on most body's turtle decks (may have varied by body supplier?). Which interestingly goes against the only the early 1913s having pinstripes. Then again, it does appear to be a Canadian car, so either of those details may have been earlier or later than USA production cars.
Wonderful photograph!
Thanks all!

Re: Striping on a '13 runabout
Hi All
Just to help show '13 Canadian details. Here are a couple pictures of the remains of the original striping on one of the front doors from my '13 project.
Its a Canadian Fisher built body. I think Fisher Canada was just getting going in '13. The body was rough and had to come fully apart due to deteriorated wood. And I can clearly say, the factor workmanship in the body was terrible!
