Wood Spokes. Is this the new normal
These are pictures of new spokes from a supplier. 30x3 1/2, 5/8 tenon. The largest measurement of the tenon is .030" smaller than 5/8. The bevel where the spoke sits against the hub is tapered.

I received a set of 5/8” spokes from Snyder’s this past week. I’m happy at the measurements and form. The tenon measure 0.633”. They are oversized to allow for crush when installing. The tenon on the old spokes measures .618”.
I also ordered a set of spokes from Langs with 1/2” tenons. They didn’t have 5/8” in stock. Their tenons measure 0.541”, which is what I expected based on my research on the forum. Their shape is also good.
- Left, Snyder’s 5/8” tenon spoke.
Right, Lang’s 1/2” tenon spoke.

The taper at the base is intentional - it faces the flange side of the hub to give clearance for the fillet radius.
Regarding the tenon diameter, do you have a felloe that you can use to test the fit? The tenon should not be loose in the felloe hole, but if it's too tight, the tenon won't go in fully when you press the wheel together and there will be a gap between the end of the spoke and the ID of the felloe.
