In response to your post regarding Etimer, I changed the Anderson timer (a new replacement one) for an Itimer. I do not regret that upgrade. Now I get very precise ignition timing & my engine runs very well & really responsive. I even enjoy (free) starts from time to time. If ever I get another T, it will get an Itimer too! Enjoy yours!

Eight years of perfect ignition with mine. I must admit not really knowing what to expect when I first had the opportunity to try one, but all it took was one trip around the block and I knew I had to have one.

Iv heard good things about the E timer. By no means am I saying its a bad thing at all. It was rather cost prohibitive for most when it first came out, At least it was for me and given there was no warrantee with it I have a feeling it stopped even more. I've found my trusty Anderson timer has done the job for the last 24 years I've owned my car. Pop it out once in a while to clean and lube it and it keeps on going. But heck who knows, someday someone will build a better mouse trap.

Not correct! The official warranty is 1 year parts and labor. In practice, minor issues have been fixed at little or no charge over the past 15 years. There was one notable exception where an E-Timer was submerged in salt water for 2 weeks due to flooding that rendered it irreparable.

The 100 year old plus coupe is still functioning and running fine on a roller timer. Just follow the recommended maintenance schedule established by the factory.

Ts will run without E timers, no doubt. But a T will CONSISTENTLY run better with an E timer, or an I timer, and it will do so without the need for regular timer maintenance or replacement. If you drive your T a lot, and E timer or I timer will pay for itself.

I replaced the Anderson type in my Roadster with an old roller type. Immediate improvement in performance (just need to keep it clean).

Great mileage on the Etimer, it sure has lasted well, that is a great endorsement for it!

Thank you Mike for your creatively in producing the BEST (IMO and long experiences) timers ever made for the Ford .

Am on that 7 years now of your I-Timer BETA model when you introduced at Hershey those long years ago.

Have not pulled the timer case to take a peak in these 7 years…..the I-Timer is like that Timex watch, just keeps on ticking the coils!

I'll have to agree with Dan and the others about how good the Kossor timers perform and are truly an amazing example of unequalled product longevity!! I was showing my T today and talking about the different timers on Model T's at the Imaginology Event at the Orange County fair grounds.

I could see rain ahead so I decided to open her up going back home on the 405 freeway and topped just over 63mph with a bit of traffic slowing ahead. gotta love that Etimer still after so many years I can't count that far!!

I can't believe that it's been 7 years already. I first met you at Hershey, and became a beta tester for you. We installed the I-Timer at your house, after driving my '14 around the block. The second step was tweeking out a set of coils on the ECCT, and driving around the same block again. We then installed the I-TIMER, and drove the same route a 3rd time. After each drive there was a noticeable improvement.
The second example of improvement came on the P.E.I. tour. My son in law was having problems with his '22. When he left the car by the trailer, and went off to dinner, I installed new rebuilt coils and a new I-Timer. Next I adjusted the carb. When he came back I told him not to adjust a thing when he drove it the following day. The next day of touring was great. The car ran the best it had ever run. I now run 6 I-Timers on my cars. Only 2 more to go.

Sharing my story...the previous owner of my hack was from Central New Jersey and the Hack was either an Alpha test or a Beta test between him and Mike. Car for sale, it was a heavy wooden Hack that performed like a Speedster and had just done 90 miles a few days before.

Decided to buy the car and was told the timer had to be swapped out as he couldn''t sell it forward and if I dropped off a new timer, the previous owner would swap it out. I have always had a new Anderson in a box, and a brown Tiger, in the crash box.

Since I never sell anything onward, I decided to buy a new timer for the 'new' purchase. Bought one...online from a certain supplier. Car ran fine for about 50 miles and then had every evidence of bad gas! Yeah, the replacement timer had the dreaded 'S' rather than PATD on it, but it was too early for there to have been a 'fair warning' about how crappy those 'S' were.

I finally went with a NOS Tiger in the box from forever, Bob 'Moxie 26' set all my 'new' coils, ran like a champ.

I said when the Tiger 'went' I'd buy an e-timer. Well 15 years in the hack with lots less miles than I anticipated due to medical crap...permanently lubed by the Royce Peterson method...so have never closed the circle.

Hey George, I wonder how that hack at that Ford dealership is doing. Had a nightmare with that camshaft being drilled all the way through for the commutator brush... And I was wondering why it wouldn't start for us..... Commutator brush was installed 180° off.

That was so pathetic, I winch til I cry even today...who wooda' thunk? The saving grace was that somehow we figured it out in the course of a day- that drilled through cam...not having any pre-warning like what this forum can do now!

As to that Hack you mention, it doesn't see the light of day even after all of that work (even though they jokingly felt overcharged when my fee was but 'lunch' as long as Nick their own master mechanic was willing to learn). It was to be a great marketing gimmick for that huge multi-point car dealer-they had trade in records of the Hack from back in the 50's, and apparently sold at least the chassis in the first place. They did the car show circuit for the first year, Nick proved he had learned well...the corp HR staff made the outtings a full fledged party every time...then someone decided to build a new corporate headquarters with a huge glass foyer and...parked and locked with a drip pan that almost stays mint! Oh well...it went put-away in perfect shape so some decade in the future someone will have the bright idea to show it again and be surprised when it starts with about 15 minutes of work.

One thing to do, regardless of what timer you have, is to have a spare working timer of any kind under your seat as well as one or two good coils, just in case. Also a few spare spark plugs. If you are going to tour whether alone or with a group, seems like someone will break down and you don't find Model T parts at the local auto parts store anymore.

Norman... Hate to break the news to you, but you do not need a backup timer for the. E-TIMER ...... Just my own humble opinion and experience.
