Old Car festival registration is closed already

Post by Bill Dizer » Sun Jun 30, 2024 1:08 pm

I went to the Old Car Festival registration page and see that registration is closed, at capacity. Since I was registering a bicycle through the Wheelmen, I hope as a member there to get to take a bike.

I guess I'll jump in on this. I really applaud the OCF group for being prompt on being ready for their June 1st registration posting, -and then being prompt to choose this year's field of cars and quickly letting those registrants know something so they can begin making their plans.

I hope to bring some overalls (and be in them this time). It's common knowledge that I was otherwise occupied last year, so even driving modern I'm ready to see some old cars and old friends.

What are the best places to stay for OCF if showing a car?

We stay at The Comfort Inn in Allen Park. It's about a 3 mile drive to the OCF.

Depends on how you travel. I often stay in a parking lot or a secluded spot near the road.:D

Do you sleep in your car like that?

Only when it rains. Normally, in a sleeping bag out on the ground. Some are appalled at the thought, but I've been sleeping on the ground since 1946 that I remember, and probably before that. When it was raining, I once took a motel room. More often I've slept in the car with a big tarp over the top, hanging down all around like a tent. It's not as bad as it sounds. It sure didn't keep me awake.

Steve, I see you even get wake up calls in that parking lot. Do they have a pool? If you do not make it maybe Atomic Amish can set up your overalls on a chair again. You might have to ship him a pair of the correct brand for this year.

Dave, they have a pool, but it's spelled with a silent Pee.

I've been told that the 2024 OCF has been limited to 250 cars. Has anyone heard about it?

Ed that sounds like a good question for THF. I haven't heard anything about that this year, but I do recall hearing a few years ago that a cap was set (or lowered?) to prevent overcrowding. I guess it was headed toward being too much to handle.
