I have a cut off 26/27 gooseneck spare holder that uses the rear spring clamps. It is a strong base to build from. Contact me with your phone number if you want me to talk with you about it. Another one of our members got one from me and is very happy with how it is working out.

Not to undercut Ken’s response, but I have a bent up piece of 3/8 inch x 2 inch wide strap that served as a mount for a kluged up electric taillight on my early ‘14 Runabout I recently picked up. It mounts on the RHS rear spring u-mount and has a slight twist to the tongue to level it up, so to speak. The “tongue” hole is also 5/8 inch dia.
If interested, email me back via the Forum and it’s yours if you want it for the cost of shipping. Probably weighs about 5 lbs max. Can’t get any more cost effective than that. I don’t need it for anything. Hate to just send it to scrap if someone can use it.

What do you mean "not to undercut Ken's response"? That's exactly what you are intending. How does what you are showing have a chance of holding up against the Ford designed bracket on the frame? Have you looked at how that mounts compared to the 3/8" flat bar you are trying to get rid of?

I am the person who purchased the rear spring mount Model T Spare tire carrier from Ken. I converted it into a trailer hitch. It cost me a total of $325.05 to make the hitch. If you decide to go this route contact me and I will let me know what I did, what components I used and the vendors from whom they were supplied.
