FS 1915 right front fender

I believe this is a 1915 right front fender. A bit uncertain about the shape of the hood under the nose of the fender. Has some rust through an the running board end and a small crack around the fender bracket. Also there is some overall roughness to the finish, zoom in to see. $200 not sure about shipping this. Very early 15 with the 4 rivets on top, changed to 3 rivets for the later 15 and 16.

Those four rivet odd fenders have quite a history. And I am not sure it is really known all the hows wheres whens and whys of them.
Half a century ago, it was firmly believed by most of the hobby that these fenders were not even made by or for Ford. Most people that had them on either a late 1914 or early 1915 believing what they were told removed them and scrapped them thinking that they were some sort of after-market replacement fender. I have not heard of an actual record of change being found showing this fender. However, clearly thousands of model Ts apparently had them, and nearly all of them were either very late 1914 style cars or early 1915 style cars. Both late 1914s and early 1915s were being manufactured through December of 1914 into April of 1915. A few late 1914 built center-door sedans and couplets also had this style front fender. This style fender continued to show up on some 1915s at least into May of 1915.
The best speculation I have heard is that they were likely a transitional fender used on both 1914 style and 1915 style cars for about six months. It would have been easier for the factory to handle a single style of fenders for both styles of cars. As it was, they had enough issues handling the long model year transition.

When I was just out of high school, I started trying to piece together a 1915 on the cheap. I didn't care about the prevailing opinion that these were wrong. I tried for about two years to buy some of this style fenders. I met and spoke with about a dozen people that had changed their car's front fenders "in order to make the car more correct!" MOST of those people told me that they had already scrapped them because they were not correct and nobody wanted them.

The truth is, and was, that they were and are correct for model Ts built in that narrow timeframe.

That is a nice looking fender! But I already have a pair of those for my early 1915 runabout.
