1914 Model T Touring for sale (Sold)

Post by jpcouture » Wed Sep 25, 2024 7:02 pm

For sale 1914 Model T Ford touring car, engine casting date 2-20-2014. The car runs and drives well after being revived from 25 years of storage in 2017. Mechanical components have been checked and refreshed including the following: new tires, Brassworks flat tube radiator, rebuilt Holley G carburetor, rebuilt coils, TW timer and more.
The exterior and interior are as found when the car was pulled out of storage. The body is solid but is far from perfect in paint and appearance. The front seat cushion appears original, the other cushions have been redone in vinyl. Original top sockets (irons) with new bows are included.
This car is a show favorite with no concerns about people touching, scratching or getting in for pictures. Selling only because I bought another Model T and need the garage space. Located near Saint Paul MN.

Reduced price again
$7000.00 or offer

 Ooops! My bad! Forgot about "the other Jerry"!! No, I meant the Lincoln29 Jerry, who's looking for an early car! So now I looked up his full name...Jerry Hollenbaugh...was too lazy the first time to do that! He's about 8 or 9 hours from where this nice '14 is. Make a good start for him for sure. Sorry for the mixup.

Thanks, I reached out to "other Jerry." He has not ruled this car out, but is really looking for something older.

Ok but to me that's a "wow"...this I think is a good deal!

Older of course will be harder to find and cost more even tho they too are dropping in value

This car appears to be a GREAT deal!

As to Model T's dropping in value however, I've been hearing that song for at least 50 years. If that were always true, we'd be paying people to take them by now. ;) No car that I ever hoped to own seemed to drop in value.

I keep waiting for the $5,000 Duesenbergs to reappear as well as the $900 '11 Torpedos. Doesn't seem to be happening. This car does indeed appear to be a very good deal.

I get the sarcasm and that's all fine and dandy, but as little as 5 years ago the same '11 Torpedo that's back on the market at $35K woulda/shoulda gone for $45K is all I'm saying. Yeh, they go up and down, but just look at the trend of things. There's a very nice '23 Runabout a guy can't "give away" for $10.6k asking for "good offers" after 4 months. 5 years ago I sold a similar '20 for $14.5K. Like it or not, things aint what they used to be. Just wait til all the sources for the 280 cams dry up, and they seem to be. Just heard when Prus's stock is gone, they're done with 'em. Plenty of brass cars even tho need a little TLC asking less than $18K. I remember 8 years ago dickering on a '12 Touring very original, needed mostly just all new upholstery,(a $4K investment at best) at $25K even then. They wouldn't budge. Now you could get it for $20K I'd be willing to bet. The worst problem we're dealing with is DESIRE. This STEAL of a deal at $10.9K woulda flown off the shelf in 2 days like even just 2 years ago. There's not enough "up and comings" with disposable income to get into this I'm sad to say. I hate to sound negative, and I'm not, I'm just fearful is all.

Prices like lake water seeks it own level based on conditions. Just hope when prices level out they are not to low to sustain the support network of vendors and part manufactures.

"All the market will bear" is the capitalism mantra, and so like Novice said, things will level off and actually, who knows, maybe Model T's will now be purchased by a new group of folks who can afford em and find out how much fun they really are? Life has a way.

If it’s a 1914 car, then why is the engine casting date 2014?

Garrett, look at the 12th picture. Pretty sure the casting date is 2-20-14.

I magnified the photo on my computer, it still looks like 2014 to me IDK if it's a manufacturing error or my computer, or just the font they used back in the day.

The engine number is 485976, which aligns with the casting date of 2-20-14.

Reducing price to 9900.00 or reasonable offer, no trades.

Would a block of ice fit between a rear mount spare and the body on a 1914 T? Maybe the dents on the lower rear panel were made by someone taking block ice home for the ice box back in the day....
