Santa Clara Valley Model T Club Endurance Run

Post by YellowTRacer » Tue May 13, 2025 1:46 am

Wow! June 7th & 8th is just around the corner. Well, as usual with my last minute antics, I just sent my entry forms in, and If you haven't already registered for the 64th Annual SCVMTFC speedster Endurance Run, time is running out. There's less than 2 weeks left before the deadline to get signed up. Without question, the best antique car extravaganza of the year bar none! I overheard some good comments about this years route, and knowing Ivan Jorgensen, there'll undoubtedly be some exciting challenges and memorable ocean views before you reach the finish line. Old #4 is a rarin to go, and as time keeps flying by, it'll be here before you know it. If you're a real diehard speedster owner, fill out that form..... send it in.... be there with the rest of us diehards! There's still time.

I registered early. If you can attend you should. The run is great fun but the Saturday safety check and BBQ are a can’t miss. Saturday evening in the motel parking lot bench racing is icing on the cake.

All loaded up and heading to Santa Clara this morning. A nice afternoon at the Bertolotti collection and a BBQ dinner. Tomorrow we’ll find out what I forgot to do to the Mercury. Results on Monday.

Way to go team Clary! No doubt your win is a direct result of meticulous planning, precision navigation, and elite driving skill. Or maybe you just got lucky…!?! ;)

Hope to see pics, wish I could have been there

I really just want to thank Chris and everyone that works so hard to put on this event. For the participants everything ran smooth and I had a great time. I also want to thank everythat participated in both the endurance run and low land tours. Saw old acquaintances, made some new friends and missed the ones who could no longer participate.

Set your calendars for a June 6th and 7th 2026. We’ll be back for the 55th running of the premier endurance run in the country.

Amen to that Andy.

It was a lot of fun even though our day didn't go quite as smooth. We had a few issues and came in late/last but finished and picked up the Hard Luck Trophy and Certificate of Completion.

For the icing on the cake, after loading the car on the trailer and starting to tie it down I heard air coming out of the left rear tire.
The tire had moved on the rim and bent the valve stem waiting until it was on the trailer before letting loose. Our luck held out.
I changed the tube today and it was torn at the base of the valve stem.

Its definetely on the Calendar for next year.

Has a date been set for the Auburn swap meet which is usually the first Sunday in June? The Endurance Run has historically been the second Sunday in June. Hope there is not a conflict.

With any luck at all, I might have finished the fabrication and re-assembly needed to get the Pharis #32, "Frogari", road worthy again before next year's run. Coming back down to California to do this event is now on my bucket list, so if not next year, then another. 8-)

Keep crankin',
Eric

The Mother Lode Swap Meet in Auburn is always the first Sunday after Memorial Day. So next year its May 30-31.

Well, beat out again! I came fairly close, but when you're computing in seconds, a couple minutes is enough to put you out of the "money" Congratulations Andy and Jeannine, that was a well deserved win. This had to be one of the toughest routes we've ever had with about every type of terrain (no gravel or dirt) you can imagine. That first long uphill was a ringer. At that point I was just trying to catch up to the pack and sorta fit in. Those Certificate of Completions awarded at the finish line were well deserved. What a great memorable week end, start to finish. I know it all starts at the top so thank you Chris Bhirdo and thanks to all the volunteer help who did an outstanding job making sure everything ran smooth.

For those of you who are unaware, Ivan is also the go to guy for the SCVMTFCA Endurance Run route selection. The route this year was a perfect blend of wonderful scenery, great roads and just the right amount of difficulty. The steep 180 degree hairpins challenge even the best drivers, the winding downhill runs through the trees on narrow 1½ lane roads keep you and your car using every trick in the book to control your speed and preserve your brakes. Ed's comments above, coming from someone with hours and hours of seat time in #4 only reinforce my thoughts with regard to the great job that Ivan did again this year. Thank you Ivan for another great route! ( oh yes, and for the pictures as well! )

If you own a Model T speedster, you owe it to yourself to put the SCVMTFCA Endurance Run on your bucket list of events to attend.
