As a Non-USA person, could you tell me what 'Homecoming" means?
I have wondered about this for many years.....

It means returning to "home". A reunion of sorts.A Whiteman wrote: ↑Sun Jun 08, 2025 4:25 amAs a Non-USA person, could you tell me what 'Homecoming" means?

Re: Homecoming Pictures
This is the annual MTFCA event which happens during the first Saturday in June. We have three days of touring around the Richmond area followed by a car show and swap meet. The museum is open for free to all visitors.

Re: Homecoming Pictures
Homecoming starts with the family home. Children grow up and then live in other places. Eventually, they all gather back to their family home to see parents and each other. Schools can be a home. Students graduate and leave for college or a job. Once a year, schools have a homecoming day for old students to return and see things and other friends. Sometimes Christians refer to homecoming as heaven, when their spirit and new body return to God the Father in a great gathering.

Re: Homecoming Pictures
Thanks guys, so it not a formal event like say Easter or Christmas?
Is there any special time of the year or date it is 'celebrated' or is it a local choice?

Re: Homecoming Pictures
For most people Homecoming is a weekend during the football season. It can be in High School or College. There is usually a parade, a king and queen are elected for a dance, etc. In high school there may be antics throughout the school starting 2-3 weeks before homecoming. Alumni in the band may be invited to come and play with the band or play separately as an Alumni band. It is a time for fun and merriment.
This might have been homecoming when I brought the band director to the student union where the band performed before the football game.

Re: Homecoming Pictures
Correct, not a formal holiday. No special time or date for such things. It's up to the group involved to schedule such events whenever it's most convenient for attendees. In the case of high school Homecomings however, it tends to be near the beginning of the school year, usually in the Fall.A Whiteman wrote: ↑Sun Jun 08, 2025 4:43 pmThanks guys, so it not a formal event like say Easter or Christmas?

Here's the two videos of the two seminars at the MTFCA Homecoming 2025. One is respoking wood wheels and the other is aligning your front end!
