These KR wilson tools for vintage fords?

Just saw the ad posted locally, thought i would ask. I know they made tools for the old fords

Nice thing to own. It would probably service 9N / 2N/ 8/N ford tractors, too. Adapters could be machined to service other bore sizes.

Vintage would be considered over 50 years old, so I would say vintage with room to spare.

As far as K.R. Wilson tools, you want to be careful what you are buying. Typically, K.R. Wilson tools for Model T's will have a rather low two or three digit number, since they were building tools for Model T's long before they started building tools for other cars.

K.R.Wilson tools for Model A's will have higher three and maybe four digit tool numbers, which reflects the fact that K.R. Wilson was by then making special tools for MANY makes of cars. Typically, only the ones used for Fords have much value.

If you find a specific tool, and are trying to understand what it is for, there are several sites online that have lists of all the KRW tool numbers and their uses for Model T's, and other sites have lists by number and use, for all the tools that pertain to Model A's and the same for Ford V-8 tools.

Just because something is a KRW tool, DOES NOT make it particularly valuable, especially if you don't know what it is used for. KRW tools are prized by Model T and Model A owners, and the V-8 guys, because they actually help current owners now, take PROPER care of their cars, without actually doing damage, which a lot of no-name tools can do when applied to T's or A's.

There is a KRW tool, advertised on Ebay, which I SWEAR has been popping up on my "K.R. Wilson Watchlist" for at least 20 years, and it has never sold. It is some kind of transmission adjustment tool, but for Packard Automatic transmissions. Not even any PACKARD guys, who are WOLVES when it comes to Packard tools, have ever even made an offer for it. It COULD BE because it is only ONE part of a kit, and useless without the attachments and other tools that are used with it. Or it COULD BE, that it is an obsolete tool that was only used for a few months when the Packard automatic transmissions came out, to rectify some early problem, which dealers later corrected, and thus, it is only a curiosity that has no real use, even on Packards. Or it COULD BE that everyone who owns a Packard with an automatic transmission, has one already rattling around in the trunk, along with the tire irons and jack handles. I might very well be DEAD, and that item will STILL be popping up on KRW Tool watchlists. I can see it EVENTUALLY, in the year 2345 AD, as being recognized for being the OLDEST CONTINUALLY LISTED ITEM since EBAY opened their doors.

If you see a KRW number that intrigues you, do some searching on the different sites to see if you can find out what it is, and what it was used for. After you look it up, and get a coherent explanation of what it does, and how it is used, THEN maybe you will want to bid on it, and how much you are willing to spend. KRW tools ARE very useful to Model T and Model A owners, so they do have value.

It is still being listed! LOL I know which one you are talking about.

Dan, yes it is too bad it is gone. At least if someone is interested there are lots of catalogs out there, both original and reprints.

RE the tool shown in the original post, you can find a number of those on eBay just by doing a search of K R Wilson tools.
