I am assembling a 26 transmission. Have on hand a good driving plate with the exception of some scouring on the ball cap / 4th main contact area. I have a crankshaft grinder so it isn’t a huge job to turn the bearing contact area underside.
Which will mean an increase in the Babbitt thickness in the ball cap.
I estimate the diameter will be about .035” undersized.
Wondering if any engine builders have tried this?
26 - 27 rebuild 4th main babbitt thickness

Do it all the time, machine the drive plate and increasing the thickness of the babbitt and re-machine that to fit, the early ball caps made by dodge had about 1/4" thick babbitt.

Here is a link to a thread from Herm. Shows how he did a transmission. Look down at how to fix your problem.
