Re: 1927 Howe TT Fire Truck
Does this truck have have any kind of auxiliary transmission, or "high speed" axle gears?

The rear axle is high speed rear end.
The transfer case has a low speed drive output with pu.p NOT in gear. Works like a Rux.

According to Brent Burger in Spokane,
Pat, you sound pretty interested, I think that you should buy this one.
Keep crankin',
Eric
He puts a lot of miles on his TT Flatbed in Eastern Washington. The Fire Truck is undoubtably heavier, but the flat ground cruising speed should be close.Burger in Spokane wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 10:48 amPutting Henry's comment into perspective, a 7:1 ratio gear set will have your engine
maxed at 20mph. Even slower if it is not rebuilt and balanced. A rebuilt and balanced
engine with a 5:1 gear set will do a comfortable 35 and have an upper end approaching
50...
