Diamond Tire Repair Kit no 6

I picked up this from what looks like a complete Diamond tire repair kit. There is still talc in the tube. It’s missing the two Diamond Tire irons. On the small envelope it says:

-2 valve insides (I’m assuming these are the pieces that thread into the Schrader stems)
-2 valve caps (I don’t know what those look like)
-2 cap washers (I don’t know what those look like)

It has a small tin of Schrader valves. There’s only
One in the tin.

In the small diamond tin it is empty. I’m assuming this held the patches and perhaps glue?

What is the metal piece that has pointy ends? Was this part of the original kit?

If anyone has a pair of diamond tire irons that they would sell. Let me know.

My ‘10 came through with Diamond tires and I searched for the irons for years. Found them at Hershey eventually and now that I have them I see fairly regularly. Saw one a few months ago on eBay. They’re out there so keep looking.

The thing with the claws on it may be belt lacing, or it could be some kind of tire casing repair. I'm guessing belt lacing.

I too think the metal piece with claws is belt lacing. Cut in half, crimped into a leather strap each end, and held together with a pin?nail, it is a fairly universal piece of kit for using flat belts.
Would patches of the time have been stick-on types? Most of the period stuff with which I am familiar was hot vulcanised.

Here's some pics of the pieces in that envelope.

The cap would be a valve cap.

The cap washer is a tiny usually red rubber ring inside the valve cap to assure good seal of the cap.


The valve 'insides' are of course the stem of the valve that holds the pressure intact after air fill. Those can go bad, esp. with moisture in the tube, from tire pumped air.

There is a seal in that cap acting as a secondary air seal for valve core leakage.

Yes, a dust cap covers the metal stem. The valve cap seals the stem to prevent water intrusion to the valve inside the stem.

The dust cap covers all to keep dirt off. Dust cap screws onto the rim nut on the felloe.

I looked up the image search and got "machine gun belt".

Perhaps not, so a little twiddle and we get conveyor belt joiner:
