Cold, rainy and snowy Winter days are the perfect opportunity to learn or review the marvels of the Model T Ignition System and Model T Coils.
How they work and how to keep them running well.
The MTFCA Coil Testing and Tuning Webinar on Youtube: https://youtu.be/RYcGD-8Ol3s?t=364
Its worth viewing if you ever wondered about any of the following questions:
What are the major elements of a Model T coil and what is their function?
What happens when a coil produces a double spark and why does it results in degraded engine performance?
How to prevent Model T coils from double sparking?
How does the capacitor/condenser function to suppress arcing and associated ware of the coil points?
Why can point arcing still occur even with a good capacitor of the proper value and rating?
Why point arcing causes ignition timing variation and how to prevent it?
How to prevent coil point arcing and ignition timing variation?
How to clean and maintain coil point contacts?
How are Model T coils properly adjusted?
Where to get coil point hardware?

Re: Virtual Winter Clinic
Mike,
I used your ECCT when I rebuilt these KW coils for our 1911 T that I restored a few years ago. Since then I usually check them each winter and tweak them as needed. I cheated when restoring it by installing a new coil box that looks like the Heinze box but is sized for KW coils. 3 of the 4 Heinze coil that initially came with the car had bad windings, and you didn't make a Heinze ECCT at that time, so I went the "modern" KW coil route.
Your video is a great tutorial for anyone using the ECCT. Thanks for the video and for making a very useful tool!
