A message about a past post

Post by Drobnock » Wed Mar 18, 2026 11:01 am

Hi All!

I see that there is a member seeking information about - "Researching the 1909 Ocean to Ocean Race."

I see from the response, that some information in the post is from from "Been Here Before." That is and was me.

A few months back I was labled as a Troll. By both the web site manager and some members that do not agree with me on certain T related topics. Matter a Fact one long time member stated that a a troll, As such, I do not offer any useful information. And yet I see that my comments on a timely discussion of "Researching the 1909 Ocean to Ocean Race" is now posted.

I am not quite sure what a troll is.
That is not a widely used term in the South. But I will say this- If you are truly a Troll- you are a "highly respected" Model T Troll on this forum.
Please continue whatever it is that makes you a Troll!

For all... he's not one but perhaps his critics are
Social media trolls are individuals who deliberately post inflammatory, offensive, or insincere content to provoke emotional reactions, harass others, or disrupt online discussions. Driven by desires for attention or power, they often use anonymity to act with impunity, targeting individuals, brands, or public figures. Common tactics include gaslighting, personal attacks, and spreading misinformation, which can cause significant emotional harm.
The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

My being band from the site 17 December 2025. At that point I was identified as a troll with no forum to defend myself. From the email I received, it sounded as the MTFCA Forum is a pay to play.
I am back and that is ok with me.

In part, here is the email I received:

George,

I deactivated your account because this isn't the first time you have created conversation without really needing or offering any help.

If you would like to gain access to the forum, I suggest you renew your MTFCA Membership first. You haven't been a member since 2013.
Your member number is 30887.

Once you do that, and I grant you access, you will need to clean up this comment "Because I was kicked out due to a hiccup in the search engine. I am Been Here Before."

And list your actual City & State.

Here is the link to renew https://www.mtfca.com/join-or-renew/

Thanks,

Royce Peterson said I am a troll. Maybe I have some Norwegian blood was my response.

This is about the 1909 race, I believe.

Does anyone know if any of the original cars survived? If not, is there a Shawmut, Acme, or
Italia in any museum?

Hmmm....in Michigan, you're a "Troll" if you live "below the bridge" the Mackinac Bridge that is.....All of us in lower Michigan are technically "trolls" with our fellow Michiganders above the bridge known as "Yoopers." Yeah, I know I'm not being helpful but I thought it might lighten things up.
