Gould 2-speed rear axle for Fords
While perusing my Ford Dealer and Owner magazines I came across ads for the Gould double reduction axle for Model Ts and Model TTs. The earliest ad is in the May 1925 issue and the last is in the January 1926 issue. Interestingly there are no ads in the June through September issues or the December issue. In 50+ years of playing with Model Ts I've never read anything about them and have never seen one. I'd love to know if the company ever managed to go into production or if they only ran ads trying to raise money for production. Does anyone have any knowledge on this subject?

I'm trying to figure out how it worked, and what ratios it provided.
I guess from the text that it gave a 50% reduction. That would make it similar to some other devices, and would be consistent with using differential-style gearing. It's also consistent with the recommendation to use 'speed' gears - I guess that means a 3:1 CWP.
The central part, with 2 sun gears cannot be a single item, or the differential function would not work.
The part on the right looks as if it was engaged by a selector fork and moved sideways to engage and disengage dogs, possibly inside the adjacent round housing.
The crown wheel appears to turn the whole casing.
