1913 roadster top bows and door metal detail

Post by Geoff » Fri Apr 10, 2020 6:34 pm

HI Forum Members
I plan on making my own top bows for a 1913 roadster and was wondering if there is a set of dimensions available please
Would any member have photos or could describe how the metal sheet is finished where it wraps around the door hinges and does the metal sheeting go around the end of the panels and return to the inside face of the panels
Is there a set of plans available to make 1913 door hinges
On my 1913 the top hood irons are supported on a cast metal bracket that has an eye for a bolt to go through not a threaded bracket
Any help would be appreciated

This old thread may be useful. If you Google "top bows MTFCA" you will find a lot of old threads on top bows and maybe some useful information.

Hi Chris, here are a couple of pix of the door and hinge on my ‘13 runabout. I hope they are helpful. If you have more questions, let me know if I can help. This is a US car, Wilson body. There may be variations between the coach builders.

The hinge screws should be flat head slotted. If they fail to hold, you can use a machine screw, but you will have to remove the upholstery to get a nut and washer on the other side. Steam bent bows are still available.
