What is the correct color for valve covers in 1927?

In general, for 26-27, cast parts are moleskin, stamped parts are black.

Does the MTFCA Encyclopedia give this information? Painting the stamped steel parts a different color than the cast parts' color, would certainly set them off, but I can't believe Henry Ford would put that expense into a Model T engine. It took him 18 years, just to change the head bolts and some other engine hardware from painted to nickle plated.

There was so many sheet metal parts made and it came down the line for 24-5 they got throwed on a 26-7 to use them up so it was not taking more time he was using up old parts. I have seen on original cars a 13 front fender on a 14 and the other side being a 14 fender, it does not take much to notice a body line in a fender but it happens!

Here is info from MTFCA Encyclopedia, that valve cover was painted engine color, black if black engine, and green if green engine (Moleskin). This is for late Improved cars with the Vaporizer carb set up.

Found this picture of the 15 millionth model T. This one looks like Model A engine green and frankly this engine color is questionable since the body has been repainted the wrong color two different times, the engine could have been repainted at some time too.
