Magneto and coil testing unit

Post by Mark Osterman » Sun Aug 18, 2019 2:15 pm

Just installed and adjusted all the magnets I cleaned and remagnetized from the coil testing machine I bought last week.

Apparently you have to be an Instagram subscriber to see the video.

Yep, that works. If the magnets hold two pounds or more (I go for four) and the gap is .025"-.040" you're good to go.

Yup, tested the weights with a 4 lb weight and the gap is around .025-28 so I’m set to test the amps / volts with separate test meters before checking the one on the unit.

The original Jewel ammeter had a sticky needle that wouldn’t return. I reset the pinion shaft and it works fine now.
