Scott, the top straps can be attached by one of two ways. Either get the figure 8 loops and fasten them to the radiator bolts and then your top straps would fasten to them. The other way is like my '11. My fender irons have loops incorporated in them to fasten the top straps to.

Mine are like John's
Here is the loop on the fender iron:
Here is the hook:
I don't have a pic of the brass plated steel twisted figure 8 loop, but it mounts on the side of the frame with the fender iron bolt.

Keith
so good of you to respond and provide pictures! Many thanks for your info and effort.
I have since found that both front fender irons have 1 long and 1 short bolt holding them on...at first I thought it was sloppy work from the past, which it sort of is, as one bolt on one side is the front-most bolt and is the rear-most bolt on the other side...
I now realize that the long bolt likely held a figure-8 tab and that is what I intend to use. At the present time, the straps are held with somewhat crude brackets affixed to the radiator stud...I know that this is a version of "correct", but believe the evidence in front of me speaks to a frame-mounted figure 8 loop.
Many thanks again and regards to you and all responders...I have what I need now!
