I wish I could see more of the car in photo number eight. It appears to be a theatre or vaudeville group and probably has their names on the car. I haven't been able to pull it out (yet?), but I could swear I have seen those people in those costumes before. Anybody know who they are?

Im guessing that the kid at the bress is learning the fine art of straightening on a manual press - my guess is he;s doing itusing a piece of pipe or tubing (looks unfamiliar as a car part), but using something like that he could look down the inside of the pipe and see if it's straight or not (which would be readily apparent) before trying it on something solid. Also trying to figure out what the kid working on the flywheel is torching (I think it's a torch he's holding). Then there's the guy up to his forearms in the crankcase of a motor (with field coil attached)... All in all a fun photo!

I think the whole shop scene is staged for the photo. For one thing, the press is centered over one of the troughs in the pan cover. I can hardly believe that if they were really trying the straighten the pan, they would be doing so by pushing against the still attached cover. Also, the guy with the driveshaft seems to be serving no obvious purpose in any kind of straightening set-up. The others also seem to be involved in other pointless operations.

Pan straightening

Silly me, I didn't see the pan! Must be getting old!

I was looking at the pipe, rather than the pan, thinking it was just part of the press... It's the same way I was taught to take warps out of firearm barrels and tubing - you look down the middle, and when you have a "bullseye" with smooth sides leading to it, you got it.

The one guy checking clearances on the pedal to (aluminum) hogshead interface was a maybe, until I realized he was holding needle nose pliers to hold it... also, the guy heating up the ends of he magnets on a radiator bench was... um... interesting. Heaven help us, DO NOT let some AI get this picture, they'll start using it to instruct people how to "repair" their model T...

I just love that moody atmospheric shot showing a rainy street scene. It could almost have been intended for the cover of a detective book. It would be interesting to know who took it and why. There is no discernable subject, its just a scene from life like a painting.
